Congrats to our 2014 Stetsons Pub Quiz Spring/Summer League Champions, Suck It!

It was a remarkably tight league all season long – probably the tightest one I’ve presided over.  And in the end, it all came down to Tuesday’s final.  But by pulling away in the last 4 rounds, Suck it was able to win on the night (77.5 to 70) and in the league overall (118.25 to 109.25) over Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge.  Genius Club finished 3rd in the league  (and 4th on the night with 67) with 92.5, edging out Tuesday Heartbreak with a final league score of 87, and earned the final automatic DC Trivia Champions League berth – but by finishing third on the night with 68.5 points, Tuesday Heartbreak picked up enough points to edge out the Nevernudes in the wild-card competition for the fourth and final spot in the league.  The ANZACs rounded out the top 5 on the night with 63.5 points, while XXX picked up 4th place in the league standings, picking up 62 on the night to finish with a grand total of 89.75.  And while we’re going through end of season awards, Sam Wilhelm-Ross took first place in the World Cup Prediction Challenge, edging out Jonathan Faull and Michael Michaud in a tie for second – so Sam, come either this week or next to claim your free trivia-night pitcher!

So, Suck It can once again enjoy being the champions of Stetsons, and will have 8 Washington Nationals tickets to show for their triumph.  We’ll see if other teams can get revenge on them, either in the September-October Champions League (more details to come a couple weeks before we get started) or in the Fall/Winter League, beginning in mid-late October.  I’d like to thank you all for making it a great season and for continuing to make Stetsons the best trivia night in town.  And also, a big thanks to Brian for joining up as co-host and doing a great job (and getting through his first league season).  He’ll be hosting next Tuesday – yes, despite the end of the league season, trivia will continue as usual each Tuesday – and Tuesday Heartbreak, as this past week’s third-place team, have requested a round on the Grateful Dead. I will most likely be there too, so see you Tuesday!
